Risk Analyst - London
CMS have a new and exciting opportunity for a Risk Analyst to join our Risk Department.

About the role
This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to make a real contribution towards the shape and vision of this forward-thinking Department.
In this role, you can expect to get involved in a variety of work including:
• Responding to a wide range of compliance queries raised by fee earners and business support departments (“internal clients”), including:
o risk queries on the interpretation and application of the SRA Code of Conduct
o compliance matters such as share dealing, confidentiality obligations, outside interests, anti-bribery and corruption
o auditor, third party reliance, secondment and supplier documents
o use of engagement letters and terms of business, including key provisions such as, conflict wavier language, confidentiality, limitation of liability
• Efficiently assisting in the management of the Risk Team inbox, picking up requests in a timely manner and engaging with clients and where necessary manage expectations.
• Using opportunities to develop knowledge and experience by picking up new matters that have not been worked on before
• Find areas to become subject matter expert in and develop expertise. Be willing to share this knowledge with others, be a point of escalation and deliver relevant training to the wider team.
• work closely with the Conflicts Manager to assist with resolution of escalated conflict issues, of a commercial and legal nature, within the firm as required.
• Be able to review and advise on client terms, working closely with the Risk Department’s Contract Lawyers
• Get involved in all levels of firm-wide training, including inductions.
• Bringing ideas and suggestions to risk team meetings to improve risk systems, processes, procedures etc.
• Sharing knowledge, best practice and war stories with the team at team meetings
• Assisting with internal risk assessments, audits and investigations
• Assisting on data protection issues, such as data breaches and data subject access requests
• Dealing with client file requests in accordance with firm protocol
• Contribute to Risk projects, communicating with the project lead, meeting agreed deadlines, asking for help and support where needed and delivering quality work on time.
• Managing smaller risk projects to deadline, communicating with managers to keep them informed of progress
• Acting as a point of contact on regulatory risk issues from the wider new business intake teams, including Conflicts, AML and Matter Administration
• Advise internal clients on any relevant risk and compliance issues associated with the taking on of new business
• Monitor developments in relevant law, regulation, policy and market practice and work with the Head of Risk/Senior Risk Manager in amending existing policies and procedures or drafting new ones as necessary
• Assisting the Head of Risk/Senior Risk Manager with various strategic risk projects from time to time and the firm’s General Counsels
• Building the profile of the Risk Department within CMNO
• Professional manner when dealing with all levels of staff
