About the Role
The Financial Services (FS) team in CMS is one of the biggest in the City and more broadly in the UK. We have 27 partners and over 100 lawyers, focusing on range of work for and with financial institutions. This scale means our practice includes FS focused transactional work, as well as the typical FS advisory work.
We help our FS clients with a variety of strategic transactions which include material regulated outsourcings, commercial partnerships, distribution and hybrid projects, capital driven transactions, risk mitigation transactions, and regulated business transfers.
The skills to support this work are common to all transactional lawyers such as drafting, negotiation, project management, liaising with other specialists within CMS and on a cross border basis. Our USP is that we understand our clients’ FS business and see these transactions through the FS lens.
The partners in our FS team that focus on this transactional work are Angela Greenough, Joy Davey, Thom Lockley, Jenny Nanalal, Owen Ross and James Geer.
About You
We are looking for someone with transferable transactional skills, who is open minded and enthusiastic.
Key to what we do is commerciality, pragmatism and deal-doing.
No specific regulatory experience or knowledge is needed - we are looking for solid legal skills with enquiring minds keen to learn on the job to develop a sector specific focus in transactional work in the FS team at CMS.
